        What's New

Customers Please NoteSeptember 18, 2016

  • We are still actively developing Taskline, but have decided to stop issuing regular minor updates. This is because each update is seen by virus checkers, Windows Defender and Windows SmartScreen as a new unknown program, which often causes the new Taskline download to be blocked. It's a lot of work to apply for white listings to the various AV companies and, in some cases, it's not even possible, we just have to wait for the download count to increase (which takes a long time since most people are put off from downloading it by the false warnings).
Version 4.1.20July 12, 2016

  • We have added support for the Office Dark Grey and Black themes. It is far from perfect, but at least everything on the Taskline tab is visible now.
  • A Taskline task set to Waiting on someone else, that also has a task Due date set, will now be displayed on Outlook's Calendar as an All day event on that Due date. This feature can be disabled by selecting the Ignore this task check box.
  • On the Calendar Task Entry Colors dialog, there is now also a new <Waiting> color setting for Waiting on someone else tasks.
  • Occasionally, the reschedule would fail with an erroneous "There is not enough uninterrupted free time available" message. This is now fixed.
  • When you now add a Work between constraint to a task, the constraint dates now default to the task Start and Due dates, if they are set.
  • The Create Task context menu for a Contact was failing with an error. This is now fixed
Version 4.1.18April 7, 2016

  • This version is functionally identical to v4.1.17. However, we've made some changes that should stop Norton/Symantec Anti-Virus incorrectly claiming that Taskline Setup contains a Trojan.
Version 4.1.17February 22, 2016

  • Fixed a problem with Taskline Uninstall sometimes failing to start.
Version 4.1.16February 10, 2016

  • From January 1, 2016, Taskline Setup downloads on a Windows 10 computer were giving a "The signature is corrupt or invalid" Message. This has now been resolved with an updated security certificate.
  • Occasionally, you were prompted to set a value for the 'Work between time' on a task, even though no Work Between constraint was set. Now fixed.
  • If the Taskline should set Start and Due to the Scheduled dates option is set and the Scheduled dates are cleared for any reason, then Start and Due are now cleared too.
  • Import Tasks was sometimes failing. This is now fixed.
Version 4.1.15October 1, 2015

  • This version is compatible with Outlook 2016.
Version 4.1.11July 7, 2015

  • You can now order your tasks by most Outlook custom (User Defined) task fields, as well as the standard Taskline offerings.
  • You can now order by up to 5 task fields, up from the previous 3 fields.
  • The "It has not been possible to satisfy the constraints on the following tasks..." message box now has a Cancel button on it.
Version 4.1.10April 3, 2015

  • If the Require that all tasks are assigned a Category option was set, you sometimes got a request to enter a Category for a task called "@Taskline@". Now fixed.
Version 4.1.6February 10, 2015

  • Taskline Setup now waits longer for Outlook to shut down before giving up.
Version 4.1.5January 27, 2015

  • If, on the Options tab, Outlook task form initial tab is set to The task tab if there are notes, otherwise the Taskline tab, then having attachments now has the same effect as having notes.
  • On the Calendar Task Entry Colors dialog, new rules now get inserted at the top of the list. Previously, they went in at the bottom, where they might have no effect if previous rules cut in first.
  • Setting Calendar Task Entry color based on Project was not working. Now fixed.
Version 4.1.4January 17, 2015

  • On a new task, if Ignore this task or Task can be split settings were changed, they would change back after a reschedule. Now fixed.
  • Some files were not getting removed on Uninstall. Now fixed.
Version 4.1.3January 8, 2015

  • Some users were getting no text in calendar task entries. This is now fixed.
  • The Auto Process Registration Email button was not working in some cases. Now fixed.
  • Some users were seeing "Taskline's Outlook Add-In is not responding". Also now fixed.
Taskline Version 4.1December 26, 2014

  • This is a free upgrade for all Taskline 4 users.

New Features Specific to Outlook 2013

  • The Calendar Task Entry context (right click) menu now works on Outlook 2013 too. Commands available are Open Task, Complete, Whole Task is Complete and Pin/Unpin.
  • You can set Show time as for calendar task entries to Working Elsewhere.
  • There is a new Advanced OptionIgnore 'Working Elsewhere' appointments.

New Features for all Versions

  • There are 2 new right click menu options for standard Outlook appointments: Create Task and Create Task and Pin. These enable you to do some planning in the calendar and then easily convert appointments into Taskline tasks. The appointment is itself converted into a Taskline calendar task entry, like those created by Taskline when it runs.
  • There is a new Create Task right click menu option for Outlook emails, notes and contacts. This creates a new task from the item, leaving the original Outlook item unchanged.
  • Pinned calendar task entries that are Not Started and have an End date on or before the First task starts at date (i.e. those pinned items that are in the past) are now automatically unpinned and rescheduled.
  • The Taskline section of the ribbon in Outlook has a new button to display Taskline's online help.
  • Outlook Label names have been removed, only Label colors are now shown and the word Label has been replaced by Color. This gives a cleaner and simpler interface.
  • Calendar task entry colors and subjects now update when you click Apply – there's no longer a need to reschedule to have them updated.
  • You can now have up to 9 day time breaks, up from the 4 previously supported.
  • There is a new ClearContext project compatibility advanced option. If enabled, Taskline reads and writes task Project information from and to the Outlook CC-TopicName User Defined Field, instead of the usual Project UDF.

Tasks in the Calendar Can Now be Colored Based on New Task Attributes

  • Overdue so you can color overdue tasks differently.
  • Pinned so you can color pinned and unpinned tasks differently.
  • Priority (A1) letter, so for example A tasks can be colored differently to B tasks.
  • There is a new color type on the Define Colors (formally Define Labels) dialog such that you can now prevent the creation of calendar task entries for tasks with certain attributes.

The Following Bugs Have Also Been Fixed

  • If a task subject contained non-European characters, the subjects for the corresponding calendar task entries were being replaced by question marks. Now fixed.
